CUBCHO

Paper cube making

The children from the Center for community support “Tsvetnitsa”, Malko Turnovo, Bulgaria, are old friends of mine.
Every summer they go on adventure camps to explore nature, play and create. In August we met again and they were
THE FIRST CHILDREN IN THE WORLD WHO PLAYED WITH CUBCHO! Exiting!

STREET WOOD WOKSHOP@kindoff.collective
The kindoff.collective – 153 golden days of experimenting and creating in the heart of Exarcheia,
Athens – a bubbling pot of political activism,
nightlife, and contrasts. In an abandoned mystical
house together we created 10 exhibitions, many
workshops, and creative meetings. We learned
from each other and from the new cultural context.
Within the framework of our educational experiment (@Design academy of Eindhoven), I freely
followed my intuition and embraced what the
streets had to offer every day.
The old Exarcheia is under constant renovation.
The Airbnb trend is taking over, renovations
should be done fast and cheap and no one has
time to repair the grandmother’s wooden chairs.
Every morning piles of wooden furniture, window
frames and doors grow next to the trash beans.
Those are usually left behind even by the paliatzis
– “junk dealers” who are driving around the city
while yelling from their wonder vesicles inviting
people to bring their old appliances and unwanted
stuff from home.
Driven by my huge love for wood and triggered by
the stories of those abandoned
objects, I felt the urge to adopt them all. As a
natural outcome, The street wood workshop was
born – a place where everyone from the neighborhood can work with the collected materials and
tranform them into something new.

WOOD WHITTLING

Wood Whittling is the art of carving
shapes out of raw wood using only
a knife. Often used as a meditation
practice it is a relaxing process with
thousands of years of tradition all over
the world.
This workshop aims to apply the meditative aspect of woodworking in the
process of developing a shift in our pattern of negative thoughts. While experimenting with a variety of different body
and mind exercises, and working with
wood, we can learn how to translate our
emotions and experiences into abstract
shapes and textures and make our own
little wood sculptures.
The 7 series of workshops last 2 hours
each and are held in small groups of 5
people
